Mike and Joe discuss D&C 121:35, fleshing out what it means to "aspire to the honors of men," and to have one's heart set upon the things of this world. The discussion goes in a rather different direction than expected.

I'm listening to the part about "things"--I agree with Mike that the word is in large part used simply because it's all-encompassing. It *includes* wealth, clothing, creature comforts, etc. It includes anything of this world which draws your attention away from the work.
Which is one reason that the idea of being gathered interested me. Somebody (I believe it was Mike) raised the possibility that it's something that sits in the middle of the council and draws their attention--distracts the work of the kingdom, distracts them from engaging with each Other, etc.
